Reflecting on John 21:18-23 this morning. Powerful! Was reminded that “Comparisons Can Kill.”

Peter looked around and said “What about him?”

Jesus replied “If I want him to….what is that to you?”

For those of us who follow Jesus, He has made us unique and has specific work for us to do (Ps 139, Eph 2:10).

Looking around (e.g., on Facebook, Instagram) and making comparison’s can be the death of us and God’s Vision for our lives. Comparisons Can Kill!

We begin to want to be like others and want to do what others are doing. The “Grass is Greener on the Other Side” Syndrome strikes and begins to take it’s toll. We risk missing out on the abundant life God so wants for us. And we risk hurting others by not allowing God to work through us to be a blessing to others the way He wants.

The answer: Follow Jesus Fully!

Just as Jesus told Peter…Follow Him.

Keep our eyes on Him. Be committed to doing what He tells us.

And being very careful to manage our tendency to compare ourselves with others.

Here’s to you…the only YOU God made.
