Mom used to say “Loose lips sink ships.” Meaning, you can do a lot of damage with your mouth.

It’s true. Unbridled talk can wound deeply and leave us with a pile of regrets.

Couple that with “bandits behind trees” or thinking the worst in situations without knowing the truth of the situation…and we have the potential for a big mess and some ugly fights on our hands…leaving a trail of broken relationships, ruined reputations and wasted resources.

God gives some great advice on this (God and His Word are so practical!!!). Reflect on Proverbs 11:9

With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor,
but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.

Hmmm… “by knowledge the righteous are delivered.”

Great tip from God…before we “assume” or “think” the worst, we should get the facts. Check it out. Ask questions. Call the one who has offended us and ask for clarity. Seek understanding.

It may be that there has been misunderstanding on both sides that a mature conversation can clear up.

So…we should do ourselves…and others a favor…before we spout off on someone or something, we should be sure we have “the right information”…we might just be misinformed…and it could save us and others from a lot of unnecessary pain and regret.

Here’s to you and your Life by Design. Live it Well. Live it to the Max.
